I think most start the whole “make money on the internet” the wrong way. I did, what about you?
There are so many programs advertised, they look really good, and it all makes sense, and still, why is it that most fail and never manage to sponsor anyone and to earn (at least our investment back, eh) ?
* I tried to figure that out for a long time.
* Could it be that I was not “excited” enough?
* Was I not “motivated” enough?
* Was my thinking too negative?
* May be I was advertising the wrong company or products?
* Was the program or product too expensive for the masses?
* Did I use the wrong advertising methods?……
All these questions could be answered with a big YES.
So, after asking myself these questions, I changed the company, I changed the products, I tried to get excited, I WAS excited, I read books on how to change my thinking, I paid for advertising (believe me, free advertising takes toooo long…)
I did this for many years. Am I a slow learner or what? But I never gave up hope.
Here is what I have learned:
1.) FIRST, you have to learn HOW to market on the internet.
YES, it’s the same as entering a new profession. IT IS actually the same!! You have to learn first, take some courses, visit webinars, take notes. Then: practise, practice, practice…Learn some more and take more notes.
(TIP!) Practice what you are learning.Luckily, you do not have to spend thousands and go to college. You can learn at home, there are many courses for FREE (ask me).
2.) Find a good mentor online who you can learn from.
I was lucky, when I joined (PAST) another program I found myself plugged into wonderful mentor group and marketing team (Marketing Survival Skills with Adam Whiting and Mike Hobbs.)
Yes, you probably guessed already, the program is no longer in my port folio…. BUT, I do not consider this wasted money because of the mentors I found, the team I plugged into, this WAS worth the trip.
3.) Practice what you learn, you choose a program with low monthly costs or even without the monthly costs of buying products, where a marketing system is in place already which you can use at no or low cost. Where training is available, support in form of a forum or group chat, so you don’t feel so lonely, where you can find encouragement.
(WOW am I at the right place or what?)
And….preferably, you should have some budget per month to work with to be used for advertising expenses.
4.) FOCUS, do not get distracted, put your blinders on, ignore all the super offers you see around you, grow yourself, your biz, your list, your friends lists, focus, focus, focus…!
That’s how to grow and become experienced and guess what? That’s how to finally make some money. Use a percentage of these fund for your advertising, “recycle” it.
That’s how you can grow a list (“the money is in the list, have you heard that before? It is do true!!”) and build relationships online.
That’s how you can sponsor people into your programs later, people who know you, and who you like to work with.
This takes time, of course. I have learned to be patient. I have “wasted” or gained experience for many years. Now I can put the right effort into doing the right things, even if it takes me another year.
So, here are my suggestions:
Get a blog like The Empower Network Blog (includes a program” to make money, the blog, training, team chat, sales funnel (but still could add a marketing system with autoresponder or use aweber/getresponse within here)
Write something about yourself, add a photo, add a contact form, (use an autoresponder), write about your experience, it is really easy with this system.
and later….
Find a domain name (if possible, if not, you can add this later) and build yourself a web site and “another” blog if you like.
Find free programs to add to your blog/ and/or web site, so people can join these and you can gather contact information and start a list.
Set up a a facebook, get on skype, join other social networks and connect with people.
